The subject of my photo essay is a Providence Bruins hockey game. I took the photographs at their home arena, Dunkin Donuts Center, as well as the parking garage, and the Providence Convention Center. I selected this place because it offers a lot of different views and perspectives that make for good pictures. It is important to me because I spend a lot of time there during the hockey season and it is a place that I feel excited to go to and watch the great game of hockey. Visually my images captures the narrative of my essay by showing different scenery and perspectives of the hockey game. The narrative isn't just all pictures of the game, instead it captures what you see on the way to the game, from the dark garage all the way to the bright lights at the game. I arranged my photos chronologically from before the game started to after the game had ended. However, I took into account if they compositionally fit in the chronological order, most did so I didn't have to change much. The second and third pictures as well as the fifth and sixth pictures are angled so that they lead into the next photo. All of the photos are lit except for the ninth photo which contains a spotlight as its only light source. The pictures from at the game all contain light from up above. The sixth picture of the sticks shows reflection from the glass behind them. The fifth picture (seats) and seventh picture (coffee) are examples of shallow depth of field. I unified my series of photos so that they would be chronological but also be compositionally sound.
