Motion and Shutter Speed
Fast shutter speed (Fast 1/500)
Approximately what shutter speed did you use to freeze action?
I used a shutter speed of 1/500 to freeze action.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
I used an ISO of 800 and a white balance of shade or daylight.
If you were on a point and shoot camera, what setting(s) did you use?
What action did you freeze? (Describe).
I froze the action of an umbrella twirling.
What was your distance, and point of view for the photo?
My distance was approximately 2 yards away with a straight on point of view.
Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...)
The lines and pattern on the umbrella that are similar in color help strengthen the photo as well as making it look appealing.
Slow shutter speed (Slow 1/5)
Approximately what shutter speed did you use to purposely blur action?
I used a shutter speed of 1/5 to blur action.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
I used an ISO of 200 and a white balance of either shade or daylight.
If you were on a point and shoot camera, what setting(s) did you use?
What motion, or part of the image shows blur? (Describe).
The blanket shows blur as it is moving in the air following being thrown up.
What was your distance, and point of view for the photo?
My distance was about 5 feet away from the blanket.
Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...)
The pattern in the blanket contains different colors, and as it is thrown in the air the lines of the pattern become very visible.

Painting with Light
(4th photo)
Describe one of your photos from painting with light.
In the fourth photo which was taken of Faye, she sat down on a chair with a light shining from beneath her face creating a creepy photo. In front of her was a light being moved around in all different directions. The moving of the camera and occassional moving of Faye's head created a creepy picture with multiple heads appearing.
What shutter speed did you have the camera on?
The shutterspeed on the camera was at 5 seconds.
What light source did you use to create the painting?
The light source used to create the painting was a standard light held beneath the face and another light moving in front of Faye sitting down.
How did you achieve the image/effect?
I achieved the image by slowly moving the camera side to side while Faye at times moved her face.
What impact does the photo have? How would the viewer feel looking at your photo?
The impact my photo carries is a creepy one. The multiple heads and different demonic smiles could spook anyone who is unsuspecting. The viewer looking at this photo might have flashbacks to a nightmare they previously have had.

Aperture and Depth of Field
Color Correct
Select one of your images that show a shallow depth of field. (cheeseburger game)
What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a shallow depth of field?
I used an f-stop of 6.3 to create a shallow depth of field.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
I used an ISO of 3200 and incandescent for white balance.
Discuss one of your images that show a large depth of field.
What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a large depth of field?
I used an f-stop of 6.3 to create a large depth of field.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
I used an ISO of 3200 and incandescent for white balance.
Which photo is better? Why?
The photo with a shallow depth of field is the better photo. It is better than the large depth of field photo because the focused are appears to be more clear, maybe because it is easier to focus on objects closer to the lens.
Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field?
You would want to use a shallow depth of field because it allows you to focus more clearly on an object than if you were to use a large depth of field. It is easier to focus on an object that is closer and to blur out the background than it is to focus on an object that is far away and to blur the objects closer to the lens.
When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better?
A large depth of field would be best to use when focusing on objects that are far away with not a whole lot of objects near the front to interfere with the focusing of the object in the back.
